AMC Cuts Ticket Prices in Half on Wednesdays From July

Movie lovers, get ready to make Wednesday your new favorite day of the week. AMC Theatres has just announced a brilliant mid-week incentive: they're cutting ticket prices in half every Wednesday to attract more audiences during the slowest part of the week. Yes, you heard that correctly—tickets will be half the usual price.

As reported by Bloomberg, the company confirmed that this all-day discount will be calculated based on the standard adult evening ticket rate, officially kicking off on July 9. What makes this deal even more appealing is that it also includes premium formats like IMAX and 4DX—an exceptional value given the typically steep cost of these high-end screenings, especially for families or larger groups.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the movie industry has faced significant challenges, with many people abandoning the habit of going to the cinema, resulting in a heavy financial blow from lost ticket revenue. Although the sector has been slowly recovering, the journey hasn’t been easy, and attendance has yet to fully return to pre-pandemic numbers. Still, AMC CEO Adam Aron remains optimistic about the future.

According to Aron, while the first quarter saw disappointing box office results, he described the downturn as an “anomaly” that has since been resolved, thanks to massive hits like *A Minecraft Movie* and *Sinners*.

Aron noted that ticket sales have surged since April 1. Given the record-breaking domestic box office performance of these films, his confidence seems well-founded. To date, *A Minecraft Movie* has earned an incredible $408 million, while *Sinners* has pulled in $215 million—and both are still drawing crowds.

What’s more, the summer blockbuster season is only getting started. With major releases like *Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning* and Disney’s live-action *Lilo & Stitch* just around the corner, plus upcoming July tentpoles such as the new *Superman* and *The Fantastic Four: First Steps*, there's plenty of potential for strong ticket sales. AMC’s new Wednesday discount program is perfectly timed to give those numbers an extra boost.
