NetEase Games has announced a ban on keyboard and mouse adapters in Marvel Rivals on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. Using adapters like XIM, Cronus Zen, Titan Two, KeyMander, and Brook Sniper, which simulate gamepad input from a keyboard and mouse, is considered a violation of the game's terms of service. This is due to the unfair advantage provided by increased control precision and aiming assistance retention, particularly in competitive modes with auto-targeting.
NetEase employs advanced detection tools to identify adapter usage with high accuracy, resulting in account suspensions upon detection. The company states that these devices create an unacceptable gameplay imbalance.
Separately, the game has also exhibited a correlation between higher FPS and increased ping. While less noticeable at lower pings, a jump from, for example, 90ms to 150ms can significantly impact gameplay. This issue appears frame-rate related. Until a patch addresses this, players are advised to experiment with FPS settings, with some suggesting a target of around 90 FPS as a potential workaround, although this may differ from optimal settings in other games.
