Paradox Interactive has unveiled its ambitious plans for Crusader Kings III in 2025, launching Chapter IV: a significant expansion focusing on Asia. This chapter introduces new mechanics and vast new regions to explore, beginning with the recently released Crowns of the World cosmetic DLC. This DLC offers players six new crowns, four hairstyles, and two beards, providing stylish options to personalize their rulers.
The first major DLC, Khans of the Steppe, arrives on April 28th, placing players at the helm of the Mongol hordes. As the Great Khan, you'll lead nomadic armies, conquering territories and establishing your dominance across the steppes.
Following Khans of the Steppe, Coronations will introduce a significant new ceremonial mechanic, allowing players to legitimize their rule through elaborate coronation events. These events will involve grand festivities, solemn vows, and crucial decisions shaping the kingdom's future. New advisor and vassal events will further enhance political interactions. This DLC, launching in Q3 (July-September), adds considerable depth to royal succession.
The grand finale of Chapter IV is All Under Heaven, a massive expansion arriving later in the year. This expansion dramatically expands the game's map to encompass all of East Asia, including detailed representations of China, Korea, Japan, and the Indonesian archipelago. Players will have unprecedented opportunities for conquest and exploration in this vast new territory.
Between DLC releases, Paradox will continue to release patches improving game systems and AI behavior. The developers actively encourage player feedback, with the next Q&A session scheduled for March 26th.
