Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4: A Console Testing Update from Toby Fox
Undertale creator Toby Fox recently provided an update on the testing phase for Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4. Console testing is progressing smoothly, although significant work remains. Fox noted on Bluesky that PS5 testing hasn't even begun yet. Beyond bug fixes, the team is focusing on a crucial feature: save transfer.
Save Transfer from Chapters 1 & 2
Fox confirmed that the development team is working to enable players to carry over their save data from the Chapters 1 and 2 demo to the full release of Chapters 3 and 4 on consoles. This functionality was only recently made possible by acquiring the necessary technology. He expressed optimism about its success. This positive beta testing suggests a potential release date sooner than expected. Fox previously confirmed a 2025 release window.
A Cryptic Minigame and the Mysterious Tenna
Fox shared a humorous anecdote about a minigame he's developing for Deltarune. His family and friends interpreted it as a "cry for help" due to the game's delayed release. This sparked speculation that the minigame might be intended for Chapter 5, given Fox's previous statement that Chapters 3 and 4 are content-complete. Deltarune is planned as a seven-chapter saga.
More interestingly, a friend's comment, "I miss Tenna," revealed a new character, Tenna, previously unseen except for a brief appearance during the Spamton Sweepstakes campaign in September 2022. Fox's acknowledgment confirms Tenna's inclusion in Chapter 3.
Deltarune, a spiritual successor to Undertale, continues the charming adventure of Kris, Susie, and Ralsei as they embark on a world-saving quest. The anticipation for Chapters 3 and 4 continues to build with each update.
