Major Updates Coming to Disney Lorcana TCG
Disney Lorcana has unveiled exciting developments for the trading card game's future, including the September 5, 2025 release of the ninth set - Fabled - which will introduce the first-ever Iconic and Epic card rarities along with the highly anticipated A Goofy Movie characters.
Fabled Set Brings Game-Changing Additions
The upcoming Fabled expansion will revolutionize Disney Lorcana when it launches on September 5, 2025 (with pre-releases starting August 29). The set marks several firsts for the TCG, including:
- Introduction of ultra-rare Iconic cards featuring special carousel artwork of Mickey and Minnie
- New Epic rarity tier between Legendary and Enchanted cards
- Long-awaited A Goofy Movie character cards
- The first card rotation affecting competitive play
Competitive Play Evolution
Fabled will implement the first card rotation in Lorcana's history, restricting Core Constructed format to Sets 5-9. However, Ravensburger is introducing Infinity Constructed to accommodate veteran players' collections.
To maintain accessibility, the set will include reprinted favorites like Winnie the Pooh (Hunny Wizard) with their original functionality intact for competitive use. Some fan favorites will even receive Enchanted reprints.
Upcoming Releases and Events
Reign of Jafar (June 6, 2024)
The eighth set continues Lorcana's ongoing narrative with Jafar's corrupted reign over Archazia's Island. New glimmers like Jasmine - Steady Strategist will challenge the villain, accompanied by a cooperative Palace Heist experience.
World Championship (June 28-29, 2024)
Walt Disney World will host the inaugural Disney Lorcana World Championship, streamed live on Twitch. Attendees and viewers can earn special 'A Whole New World' promos during the event.
Future Sets
Whispers in the Well arrives in Q4 2025, potentially introducing Disney Gargoyles content, while fan-favorite Darkwing Duck finally joins the game in 2026.
