Baldur's Gate 3's hidden depths continue to unveil themselves. Larian's RPG is a treasure trove of secrets, many unearthed by dedicated dataminers.
One such discovery, a previously-found malevolent ending, has resurfaced during testing of the eighth major patch. This ending allows the player character to forcibly remove and destroy the illithid parasite without harm. A subsequent choice presents itself: depart with companions, or leave them behind.
The community anticipates the full implementation of this ending with the release of patch eight.
Recent layoffs at BioWare, the studio behind Dragon Age: The Veilguard, have fueled conversations about the gaming industry's health. In contrast, Larian Studios' publishing director, Michael Daus, remains active online. He recently commented on these industry-wide job cuts, emphasizing the importance of valuing employees and advocating for leadership to absorb the brunt of financial difficulties instead of frontline developers. He stressed the critical role of retaining institutional knowledge for future projects.
