Avex Pictures has officially unveiled a new mobile game adaptation of Made in Abyss. Having previously explored the mysterious Abyss through manga, anime, and a 3D action RPG, this marks the franchise's first mobile gaming experience.
What’s the Latest Update?
The upcoming mobile game will be titled Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey. Its announcement coincided with the launch of an official X account dedicated to the game, which will likely share development updates as release approaches.
Currently, details about gameplay mechanics remain scarce beyond confirmation that it will be a casual mobile title. Initial availability is confirmed for Android and iOS devices in Japan, with no announcements yet regarding a global release.
New to the Abyss?
The Made in Abyss saga began in 2012 as a manga series by Akihito Tsukushi, originally serialized in Web Comic Gamma. The story follows Riko, an orphan residing in the town of Orth, which encircles a massive subterranean chasm known as the Abyss.
This mysterious void contains remnants of forgotten technology, bizarre creatures, and ominous secrets that have claimed countless explorers. Riko aspires to emulate her mother Lyza, a renowned White Whistle Cave Raider who vanished within the Abyss.
During her journey, Riko encounters Reg, a robotic boy with amnesia. Together they descend into the Abyss's depths, fully aware this may be a one-way expedition.
The manga received an anime adaptation in 2017, followed by the sequel film Dawn of the Deep Soul in 2020. Chime Corporation later developed the console/PC RPG Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness in 2022.
