A new game from the creators of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has been announced

MercurySteam, the Spanish studio behind acclaimed titles like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread, has revealed its next ambitious project: Blades of Fire, an action-RPG developed in partnership with 505 Games. Prepare to be immersed in a dark fantasy world teeming with enigmatic races and terrifying creatures.

The debut trailer showcases exhilarating hack-and-slash combat, a distinctive visual style, and a richly atmospheric, shadowy setting. Gameplay and artistic design draw clear inspiration from Lords of Shadow, while environmental details and enemy designs echo the aesthetic of Darksiders. Intriguingly, the trailer also features a mechanical bird, hinting at a unique traversal mechanic for the protagonist.

Developed using MercurySteam's proprietary Mercury Engine, Blades of Fire aims to sidestep the optimization challenges frequently encountered in games utilizing Unreal Engine 5.

Mark your calendars! Blades of Fire is slated for release on May 22, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
