PlayStation and Sucker Punch Productions have officially announced the release date for the much-anticipated sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei. On April 23, a captivating trailer titled "The Onryō’s List" was released, offering a glimpse into the game's narrative and gameplay mechanics. The trailer culminates with the announcement of the release date: October 2, 2025.
Ghost of Yōtei continues the saga with Atsu, set in the heart of Ezo (modern-day Hokkaido), as she embarks on a quest for vengeance against the Yōtei Six, the ruthless outlaws responsible for her family's demise. Her mission is to track down and confront each member of the group: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito.
This standalone sequel unfolds 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. Earlier this year, the developers provided insights into the game's new features, including an array of new weapons, enhanced mechanics, and more, building on the foundation laid by its predecessor.
Hunt Down The Yōtei Six Your Way
Ghost of Yōtei empowers players to pursue the Yōtei Six in any order they choose, offering a personalized path of revenge. Sucker Punch elaborated on these features in a PlayStation.blog post on April 23, detailing Atsu’s journey and the game's unfolding narrative.
The game introduces an evolved open-world exploration system, providing players with greater freedom and variety than in Ghost of Tsushima. Beyond the main quest of hunting the outlaws, players can engage in various activities within Ezo. According to the blog post, "Atsu can also track other dangerous targets and claim bounties, or seek out weapon sensei to learn new skills."
As players navigate the expansive world, they'll encounter familiar activities from the original game, including the beloved "Guiding Wind" feature. Additionally, a new campfire-building mechanic allows players to set up camp anywhere in the open world. The developers emphasize the freedom of choice in Ezo, promising more details in the coming months.
Pre-Orders, Digital Deluxe, and Collector’s Edition
Pre-orders for Ghost of Yōtei will commence on May 2 at 10:00 AM ET. The standard edition, priced at $69.99, will be available both at retail and on the PlayStation Store. Pre-order bonuses are available for all editions, including:
