Marvel Rivals follows the footsteps of Overwatch with its Spring Festival event

Marvel Rivals is kicking off its Spring Festival event this Thursday, and it's bringing some exciting goodies! Get ready to snag a free Star-Lord costume and jump into a brand-new game mode: Clash of Dancing Lions.

In Clash of Dancing Lions, three-player teams battle it out to score a ball in the opponent's goal. While the mode's mechanics might remind some of Rocket League, it bears a closer resemblance to Overwatch's Lucioball – another three-on-three soccer-style game mode.

This comparison is particularly interesting given Marvel Rivals' current trajectory. Having arguably surpassed Overwatch in certain aspects, the game needs to establish a unique identity. The Spring Festival event, while fun, introduces a game mode strikingly similar to Overwatch's inaugural event. The key difference lies in the thematic presentation: Overwatch's Lucioball had an Olympic Games theme, while Marvel Rivals' version embraces strong Chinese cultural vibes.

The good news? You don't have long to wait! The Spring Festival event begins very soon.
