Following the success of Metro Quester, publisher Kemco introduced another standout indie JRPG to Western audiences, showcasing Kazushi Hagiwara and Hironori Kato's distinctive vision of a post-apocalyptic dungeon crawler. Now, the series continues with Metro Quester Osaka, scheduled to launch on iOS and Android later this month, with pre-registration currently available.
Set in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic version of the iconic Japanese city of Osaka, Metro Quester Osaka embraces a nostalgic 1980s aesthetic through its CRT-inspired interface and overall design, while incorporating modern gaming elements and refinements.
Players can look forward to encountering 32 different characters, choosing from eight classes, experimenting with various combo skills, personalizing their arsenal of weapons, and enjoying additional features like New Game+ designed for dedicated JRPG enthusiasts.

Welcome to Osaka
Although some players might find the extremely minimalist interface challenging - there isn't even an animated battle scene - the game compensates with exceptional character artwork. Each character boasts a unique design and professional-quality visuals that make them memorable. The darker, more visceral hack-and-slash atmosphere may also appeal to gamers who typically avoid JRPGs for being overly cartoonish.
Kemco has established a reputation for bringing niche hits to Western markets. While Metro Quester Osaka might not attract a massive mainstream audience, it's certain to develop a loyal following among players who appreciate its blend of 1980s-inspired gameplay and high-definition artwork.
