Moonstone, Marvel Snap's newest Ongoing card, is a game-changer. This powerful card copies the Ongoing effects of your other 1-, 2-, and 3-Cost Ongoing cards in its lane, acting as a significantly enhanced Mystique. However, building a successful deck around this potent but fragile card—often dubbed "the Glass Cannon"—requires careful strategy. After extensive testing, two optimal deck builds have emerged: Patriot and Tribunal-focused strategies. This guide details both, along with a brief review to help you decide if Moonstone deserves a spot in your collection.

Series: Five (Ultra Rare)
Season: Dark Avengers

The Best Deck for Moonstone
Moonstone excels as a support card rather than the primary win condition. A reliable approach utilizes Moonstone within a Patriot-Ultron deck. The focus is on maximizing the value of one or two key Ongoing effects, rather than over-relying on Moonstone's ability.
To build this deck, combine Moonstone, Patriot, and Ultron with: Brood, Mystique, Dazzler, Mockingbird, Ant-Man, Iron Man, Squirrel Girl, Blue Marvel, and Mister Sinister.

Moonstone Deck Synergies
- Begin by setting up board buffs with Brood, Sinister, or Squirrel Girl.
- Utilize one lane for Patriot, Mystique, and Moonstone (ideally in that order).
- Deploy Ultron in the final round to maximize location control and buff benefits.
- Iron Man, Blue Marvel, and Mockingbird serve as crucial backup cards to compensate for power deficits.
An Alternative Deck for Moonstone
For a more exciting, albeit less consistent, approach, pair Moonstone with Onslaught and The Living Tribunal. This strategy prioritizes high-risk, high-reward gameplay, using Moonstone as a central win condition. Include: Onslaught, Living Tribunal, Mystique, Magik, Psylocke, Sera, Iron Man, Ravonna Renslayer, Captain America, Howard the Duck, and Iron Lad.

Ideal Play Strategy:
- Use Psylocke to deploy Moonstone early.
- Play Onslaught, Mystique, and Iron Man in Moonstone's lane.
- In the final round, distribute power across all lanes using The Living Tribunal.
In this deck, Psylocke and Sera reduce costs, enabling earlier plays. Magik extends the match, setting up Onslaught and The Living Tribunal. Captain America and Iron Lad provide backup if key cards aren't drawn in time. While many predicted a Moonstone-Onslaught-Tribunal meta, Super Skrull has emerged as a significant counter.
How to Counter Moonstone
Super Skrull effectively counters Moonstone. Since Moonstone's release, Super Skrull inclusion has increased dramatically, and for good reason. Enchantress, Rogue, and Echo also neutralize Moonstone's abilities, highlighting her vulnerability.
Moonstone's key weakness is her lane-specific ability. Unless protected by cards like Invisible Woman, Enchantress, Echo, Rogue, or Super Skrull in another lane can easily disrupt your strategy.
Is Moonstone Worth It?
Moonstone is a worthwhile investment for several reasons: 1) Her powerful ability will become even more valuable as new synergistic Ongoing cards are released; 2) She's featured in a Spotlight Cache with two other Series Five cards, mitigating the risk of unsuccessful pulls; and 3) She offers a nostalgic, high-impact gameplay style. If you enjoy creating powerful combos, Moonstone is a valuable addition.
