First unveiled last month, Netflix has officially launched its newest feature: Game Night. According to the streaming giant, it delivers ‘Your TV + your phone = instant fun.’ Now, you can transform your living room into a casual gaming hub.
Use your smartphone to host party games on your television via Netflix Game Night!
All you need is a TV, an active subscription, and a mobile device capable of scanning QR codes. The current selection of titles in Netflix Game Night features Boggle Party, Lego Party!, Pictionary: Game Night, Tetris Time Warp, and Party Crashers: Fool Your Friends.
Simply select a game on your television, open your camera app to scan the code, and your phone instantly becomes the controller. There are no detours to the Play Store or any additional fees involved. That’s all there is to it. The feature also supports web browsers, allowing you to play from a laptop if you prefer not to use the big screen.
Here is a quick overview of the available games
Boggle Party supports up to 8 players in total. This classic word search game challenges you to find words within a grid of random letters by swiping across them. Your television acts as the scoreboard, displaying discovered words and tracking each player’s points. The winner is determined by who finds the most unique words or those containing the highest number of letters.
LEGO Party! accommodates up to 4 players. This title offers a collection of mini-games where you navigate a game board aiming to collect as many golden bricks as possible, with a total of 60 distinct mini-games included.
In Pictionary, participants interpret and guess the doodles created by friends and family, supporting up to 10 players. Both the artist and the correct guesser earn points when a word is identified correctly.
