Pokémon UNTE is expanding its character lineup once more, with Empoleon set to officially join the roster this September. Plus, a few other Pokémon are tagging along! Discover how water-types and a legendary creature shake up the meta on the battlefield.
When does Empoleon debut in Pokémon UNITE?
The All-Rounder arrives on September 19th. Originally teased during the 2025 Pokémon World Championships, Empoleon appeared against a purple backdrop—the visual cue for All-Rounders in the game.
Classified as an Emperor category Pokémon, it features abilities like Torrent. This aligns perfectly with its balanced stats from Scarlet and Violet, where Special Attack and Special Defense are slightly elevated compared to other stats. Check out the announcement video below.
While Empoleon’s addition is exciting, the developers shared even more news
Dhelmise and Vaporeon are also joining the team, though their specific release dates remain unannounced. Although detailed skill sets haven't been revealed yet, both Pokémon are expected to introduce fresh strategic options.
Meanwhile, a new update launches before Empoleon’s debut in Pokémon UNITE. Starting September 4th, Groudon appears as a neutral boss in the Theia Sky Ruins.
Defeating Groudon grants a significant attack boost and accelerates goal scoring speed. If an opponent carrying Groudon’s buff is knocked out, the effect instantly transfers to you.
Also, don’t forget that Pokémon UNITE is currently hosting its 4th Anniversary event. Latias is now available as a playable character, and players can unlock Latias’ Unite License by completing anniversary missions. The event concludes on September 4th, so be sure to download the game from the Google Play Store before then.
