Netflix unveils its latest Witcher animated film, arriving February 11, 2025. Dive into the details below!
The Witcher's Next Animated Adventure
A Coastal Conflict on the Continent
Netflix Tudum, the official news source, confirms The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep will premiere February 11, 2025. This animated spin-off adapts Andrzej Sapkowski's short story, "A Little Sacrifice," from Sword of Destiny.
The story unfolds in a coastal village, where a centuries-old conflict between humans and merfolk compels a Continent kingdom to enlist a Witcher. This time, Geralt faces a unique challenge – battling merpeople instead of the usual monsters.
Returning to voice Geralt is Doug Cockle. Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra reprise their roles as Jaskier and Yennefer, respectively. Christina Wren (Will Trent) joins the cast as the new character, Essi Daven.
Sapkowski acts as creative consultant, with Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin (writers for the live-action series) penning the screenplay. Kang Hei Chul, storyboard artist for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, directs the film.
A Season 1 Interlude
The film's timeline slots neatly between episodes 5 and 6 of The Witcher's first season. Following Geralt and Yennefer's reunion in Rinde after the Djinn incident, Geralt accepts a new contract to resolve a monstrous threat near the coast.
The film's location is likely situated between Redania and Temeria, potentially Bremervoord City in Temeria, ruled by Duke Agloval, as per the source material. However, the extent to which the film adheres to the short story remains to be seen.
