After a stellar Xbox Developer Direct to start off 2025, Microsoft's future in gaming looks brighter than ever, thanks to its robust lineup of first-party studios. The excitement around Xbox's game series is palpable, whether you're reminiscing about the glory days of the Xbox 360 or eagerly anticipating Microsoft's games making their way to other platforms like PlayStation. With Microsoft's strategic acquisitions of Bethesda and Activision Blizzard, the pool of iconic game series has expanded significantly. This tier list focuses on series with multiple entries, celebrating both current relevance and historical impact.
Here's my personal tier list, based on the enjoyment and excitement these series have brought me over the years:
Simon Cardy's Xbox Games Series Tier List
S Tier:
- Doom: The recent entries have solidified Doom's place as one of the finest first-person shooters around. The upcoming "Doom: The Dark Ages" promises to keep the momentum going.
- Forza Horizon: For me, these games stand out as some of the best racing experiences, rivaled only by classics like Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge.
A Tier:
- Halo: While "Halo 2" and "Halo 3" are masterpieces of the campaign shooter genre, recent inconsistencies prevent it from reaching the top tier.
- Fallout: I've always preferred the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout over the fantasy realms of Elder Scrolls. Power armor over dragons, any day!
If you disagree with my rankings, perhaps you're a staunch supporter of Gears of War or have a soft spot for Fuzion Frenzy. Feel free to create your own tier list and compare your S, A, B, C, and D rankings with the IGN community.
