The ESRB rating for Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, slated for a September release, reveals a surprising twist: Princess Zelda's first starring role will also feature Link as a playable character.
Zelda and Link: A Dual Protagonist Adventure
The ESRB listing confirms both Zelda and Link are playable protagonists. The game, rated E 10+, features no microtransactions. Zelda's gameplay involves dispelling rifts across Hyrule and rescuing Link, utilizing a magic wand to summon creatures like wind-up knights and slime for combat. Link, conversely, employs his classic sword and arrows. Combat includes fire-based attacks and enemies dissolving into mist upon defeat.
This marks a significant departure for the Zelda franchise, making Princess Zelda the protagonist for the first time. The game's announcement generated immense anticipation, quickly becoming a top wishlisted title. However, the extent of Link's playable sections remains undisclosed.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom launches September 26, 2024.
