Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown
Love Sudoku? Battle of Sudoku lets you compete against other players or teams! The goal remains the classic Sudoku challenge: fill a 9x9 grid with digits so each column, row, and 3x3 subgrid contains all digits from 1 to 9.
Game Setup:
Before starting, choose a difficulty level (1-6, 1 being easiest, 6 hardest). This determines the number of pre-filled digits. All players receive the same puzzle.
Game Modes:
- Show Opponent's Correct Numbers: Each correctly placed number is visible to all players. Only the first player to correctly place a number earns points. Duplicate numbers are disallowed.
- Hidden Correct Numbers: Players cannot see each other's correct numbers, allowing for simultaneous placement of the same numbers and earning points.
Time-Outs:
Incorrect number placements result in a time-out (configurable, default 30 seconds). Other players can continue during this penalty.
Scoring:
Correct numbers earn points based on difficulty level (higher level = more points). Incorrect numbers deduct half the points earned for a correct placement.
Winning:
The game ends when the puzzle is solved. The player with the most points wins. In "Hidden Correct Numbers" mode, the game ends when one player solves the puzzle, but this doesn't grant extra points; other players can still win based on fewer mistakes.
Team Play:
Team mode allows two teams to compete. Players choose a team (1 or 2) upon joining. Points are added to the team's total score. Notes and filled colors are shared within teams, enabling collaborative strategies.
Solving Tools:
A toolbar provides tools to aid in solving:
- Pen Tool: Add notes (mini-numbers) to squares. Selecting a number already present in a square removes it.
- Fill Mode: Change the background color of squares.
