Remedy Entertainment Unveils Development Updates for Upcoming Titles
Remedy Entertainment recently shared progress updates on several key projects, including the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Codename Condor, in their latest financial report. These updates shed light on the development stages of each game and Remedy's overall publishing strategy.
Control 2 Reaches Production Readiness
The highly anticipated sequel, Control 2, has achieved a significant milestone: production readiness. This means the game is now fully playable, and the development team is focusing on scaling up production, including extensive testing and performance optimization to ensure it meets quality standards. Additionally, the Control Ultimate Edition, developed in partnership with Apple, is slated for release on Apple silicon Macs later this year.
Codename Condor in Full Swing
Codename Condor, the Control universe multiplayer spin-off, is currently in full production. The team is actively developing multiple maps and mission types, undergoing both internal and limited external playtesting to gather feedback and refine gameplay. This marks Remedy's entry into the live-service market, with a planned "service-based fixed price" release model.
Alan Wake 2 and Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake Updates
The Alan Wake 2 expansion, Night Springs, has received positive critical and fan reception. The base game itself has already recouped most of its development and marketing costs, indicating strong sales performance. A physical Deluxe Edition will launch on October 22nd, followed by a Collector’s Edition in December. Pre-orders are available on the official website.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, a co-production with Rockstar Games, has transitioned from production readiness to full production. The team is working on a complete, playable version, emphasizing unique gameplay features to differentiate it from previous installments.
Remedy's Future with Control and Alan Wake
Remedy has acquired full rights to the Control franchise from 505 Games, giving them complete control over its future. They are strategically evaluating self-publishing and other business models for both Control and Alan Wake, promising further announcements by year's end. This includes exploring self-publishing options and potential partnerships.
Remedy emphasizes the importance of expanding the Control and Alan Wake franchises, linked within their Remedy Connected Universe. Further updates on these franchises and upcoming game developments are expected soon.
