Atelier Resleriana: Global EOS Announcement for Forgotten Alchemy and Polar Night Liberator

Another mobile game has unfortunately reached its end of service (EOS), and this time it's Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator. Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have recently announced that they will be shutting down the global version of their RPG in the near future. Launched globally in January 2024, the game's brief run indicates that it struggled to maintain player engagement and satisfaction.

Before we delve into the reasons behind the EOS, it's worth noting that the Japanese version of Atelier Resleriana continues to thrive. Launched in September 2023, it's preparing to celebrate its 1.5th anniversary in March 2025, highlighting a stark contrast in the game's performance between the two regions.

When Is the Atelier Resleriana EOS?

In an ironic twist of fate, the global shutdown is scheduled for the same month the Japanese version marks its 1.5th anniversary. The exact date for the EOS is March 28th, 2025. At this time, while Japanese players are enjoying the content of Chapter 22 (Part 2), global players will be concluding their journey at Chapter 21 (Part 1).

The in-game purchase system has already been disabled, but players can continue using their Lodestar Gems until the game's closure. Koei Tecmo has committed to providing new content and events leading up to the shutdown, ensuring players can enjoy the game until the very end.

Adding to the irony, the global version celebrated its first anniversary just on January 25th, making the announcement of its EOS bittersweet.

Why Is It Shutting Down?

The developers have cited their inability to maintain the game at a satisfactory level for players as the reason for the shutdown. Indeed, the game faced numerous challenges that contributed to its downfall. Shortly after its launch, the global community expressed dissatisfaction with the gacha system, despite the appeal of the main characters. Issues such as poor gameplay mechanics, aggressive monetization strategies, and significant power creep were among the factors that led to declining player interest.

These challenges ultimately led to the decision to end the service of the global version of Atelier Resleriana. If you wish to bid farewell to the game, you can find it on the Google Play Store.
