Bandai Namco to End PAC-MAN Mobile Service

Bandai Namco has announced the shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile, which is quite ironic as the legendary icon celebrates its 45th anniversary this year. This version of the game, which launched over a decade ago, has been a beloved part of mobile gaming culture.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official date for the PAC-MAN Mobile shutdown is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases were discontinued as of April 1st, but players can continue enjoying the game until the final day. Many fans have expressed their disappointment, wishing that Bandai Namco would convert it to an offline version instead of shutting it down completely. An offline version would still allow players to enjoy the game and could generate some revenue for the company.

This iteration of PAC-MAN, formerly known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just the classic arcade experience. In addition to the iconic 8-bit arcade mode, it featured a Story Mode with numerous original mazes to navigate. The game also included an Adventure Mode with limited-time themed events, allowing players to earn exclusive skins. The Tournament Mode added weekly maze challenges with three difficulty levels, and there were a variety of skins available for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, the joystick, and more.

The Reason

The decision to shut down PAC-MAN Mobile likely stems from the accumulation of bugs and issues over the years, which have made the game increasingly problematic. In its early days on Android, the game sparked excitement as players competed for high scores and leaderboard rankings, creating a vibrant community around the game.

If you're looking to play PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its shutdown, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
