Exciting news for all Call of Duty fans! The highly anticipated *Call of Duty: Black Ops 6* is gearing up for its multiplayer beta testing next month, as officially announced on the first episode of the Call of Duty podcast. Mark your calendars because this is your chance to dive into the action before the full release!
Two Phases of Beta Testing
The beta testing will unfold in two exciting phases. The early access beta kicks off on August 30th and runs through September 4th. This initial phase is exclusively for players who have pre-ordered Black Ops 6 or those with active subscriptions to certain Game Pass plans. Following this, the beta opens up to everyone from September 6th to 9th, giving all aspiring players a chance to experience the game firsthand.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to get a head start on the next installment of this beloved franchise! The full game is set to launch on October 25, 2024, and will be available on PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. Plus, it will also be accessible through Xbox Game Pass!
New and Updated Mechanics
During the podcast, Treyarch’s associate director of design, Matt Scronce, shared exclusive insights into what players can expect from Black Ops 6. On launch day, the game will feature 16 multiplayer maps—12 core 6v6 maps and 4 versatile Strike maps that support both 6v6 and 2v2 gameplay. The fan-favorite Zombies mode makes a triumphant return, complete with two new maps for players to explore.
A groundbreaking new feature, ‘Omnimovement’, will be introduced, promising to enhance the gameplay experience. Additionally, the traditional score streak system, beloved by veteran COD players, is making a comeback. This system, which was absent in the most recent Black Ops: Cold War, will reset scores upon player elimination, adding a strategic layer to the game.
Another exciting addition is the dedicated melee weapon slot, eliminating the need to sacrifice a secondary weapon for a knife. This feature, as Scronce mentioned, is something the Treyarch team is particularly enthusiastic about.
For a more comprehensive look at Black Ops 6’s multiplayer, be sure to tune into the Call of Duty Next event on August 28th, where a full reveal will take place.
