PlayStation has officially announced that Borderlands 4 will be showcased in a dedicated State of Play event today. On April 29, PlayStation took to Twitter (X) to confirm that the Borderlands 4 State of Play will be broadcast on April 30 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM BST / 11 PM CEST. According to a recent post on PlayStation.blog dated April 29, the State of Play will feature over 20 minutes of "developer-guided gameplay, including missions, killer weapons, exciting Action Skills, new and returning characters, and more."
Launch Date Moved to September 12
In a surprising twist following the State of Play announcement, Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford shared via a Twitter (X) video on April 29 that Borderlands 4 will now launch on September 12. Although he quickly deleted the initial video and reposted, the message was clear: the development is progressing exceptionally well, leading to the decision to move up the launch date. Initially set for September 23, as revealed in PlayStation's February State of Play, the new date was confirmed by Borderlands 4’s official Twitter (X) account.
The official post stated, "After careful consideration–along with A LOT of meetings, playtestings, and incredible development work–we have made the monumental decision to MOVE UP THE LAUNCH DATE OF BORDERLANDS 4 to SEPTEMBER 12."
