After 25 years since its initial release, Capcom's beloved role-playing game, Breath of Fire IV, has been revived and is now available on PC. Originally launched on the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, and in Europe a year later, the game also saw a PC port in Europe and Japan in 2003. The story follows Ryu, a man with the unique ability to transform into a dragon, as he joins forces with other warriors to thwart an emperor's plans to destroy the world.
As part of its Preservation Program, GOG has meticulously updated Breath of Fire IV for today's PCs, offering a DRM-free version on its platform. This enhanced edition is fully optimized for modern systems, ensuring compatibility with Windows 10 and 11. Players can enjoy the game in both English and Japanese, thanks to updated localizations. The visual experience has been significantly improved with an upgraded DirectX renderer, new display options such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and refined gamma correction. Additionally, the audio engine has been enhanced, restoring missing environmental sounds and providing new configuration options.
