Captain America: Brave New World will be not just the shortest film in the Captain America series, but also ranks among the briefest entries in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. AMC Theatres has confirmed the runtime stands at one hour and 58 minutes, making it the seventh shortest MCU film out of 35 releases to date.
This marks a notable departure from previous Captain America installments, all of which exceeded two hours. While most sub-two-hour MCU films appeared in Phases 1 and 2, recent exceptions include 2022's The Marvels (1 hour 45 minutes), currently holding the record as the shortest MCU film. Other shorter entries include The Incredible Hulk, both Thor films, Doctor Strange, and the first Ant-Man.
Brave New World shares its 118-minute runtime with Ant-Man and The Wasp. For perspective, the longest MCU film remains Avengers: Endgame at 181 minutes, followed by Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Eternals, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Despite its imminent February 14 release, reports indicate Brave New World underwent extensive rewrites and reshoots - including scenes featuring WWE star Seth Rollins - though the impact on the final runtime remains unclear.
This installment marks Anthony Mackie's first solo outing as Sam Wilson following Chris Evans' departure as Steve Rogers. Mackie has promised the film will maintain the franchise's signature grounded, espionage-driven tone while introducing significant characters from Marvel lore.
Notably, the film will finally address a long-dangling plot thread from The Incredible Hulk (only the second MCU film ever released) with the introduction of The Leader, alongside other noteworthy appearances including Red Hulk.
