The Rune Giant is Clash Royale's newest Epic card, unlocked in the Jungle Arena (Arena 9). A free Rune Giant is available via a launch offer until January 17th, 2025; after this date, it can only be obtained from chests or the shop.
This guide explores the Rune Giant's strategic use and presents effective deck compositions.
Clash Royale Rune Giant Overview
The Rune Giant is an Epic card targeting enemy Towers and defensive structures. At tournament level, it boasts 2803 Hitpoints and medium movement speed, dealing 120 damage to buildings—more than an Ice Golem, but less than a Giant.
Its key feature isn't its tankiness, but its unique Enchant. Upon deployment, it enchants two nearby troops, boosting their damage output on every third hit. This buffing capability makes it potent in specific deck combinations.
Costing only four elixirs, the Rune Giant cycles easily. Fast-attacking units like the Dart Goblin maximize its effect, while slower units benefit from strategic deployment. The provided video showcases a Hunter, empowered by the Rune Giant's Enchant, eliminating a Lava Hound before it reaches the Tower.
Unlike the Golem, the Rune Giant isn't a standalone win condition; it excels as support, distracting enemies and absorbing tower damage while other units attack.
Best Rune Giant Decks in Clash Royale
These Clash Royale decks effectively utilize the Rune Giant:
- Goblin Giant Cannon Cart
- Battle Ram 3M
- Hog EQ Firecracker
Details on each deck follow.
Goblin Giant Cannon Cart
While Goblin Giant decks often feature Sparky, this variant incorporates the Cannon Cart for synergy with the Rune Giant.
This beatdown deck boasts robust defense against cycle and siege strategies. The Rune Giant buffs the Cannon Cart and Goblin Giant (including its Spear Goblins), maximizing damage output. The Elixir Collector fuels consistent pushes, supported by the Lumberjack and Rage spell. However, its air defense (Evo Bats) is limited, posing challenges against Lava Hound decks. This deck utilizes the Royal Chef Tower Troop.
Battle Ram 3M
This Three Musketeers deck, despite the Musketeers' high cost, plays similarly to Pekka Bridge Spam.
Early-game pressure comes from the Bandit, Royal Ghost, and Evo Battle Ram. The Elixir Collector builds an elixir advantage for the Double Elixir phase. The Three Musketeers are deployed strategically, and the Rune Giant and Hunter form a defensive core, with the Rune Giant tanking while the Hunter (enhanced by the Enchant) eliminates threats. Evo Zap supports Battle Ram pushes. This deck utilizes the Tower Princess Tower Troop.
Hog EQ Firecracker
A top-tier Hog Rider deck, enhanced by the Rune Giant.
Gameplay mirrors standard Hog EQ Firecracker, but the Rune Giant replaces the Valkyrie or Mighty Miner. While removing the Mighty Miner's cycle, the Rune Giant's Enchant significantly boosts the Firecracker's damage, creating a powerful combination. The Earthquake delivers substantial late-game tower damage. Evo Skeletons provide effective defense. This deck utilizes the Tower Princess Tower Troop.
The Rune Giant introduces strategic depth to Clash Royale. Its buffing ability encourages experimentation. These decks provide a foundation; adapt them to your playstyle for optimal results.
