Best Doom 2099 Decks in Marvel Snap

Marvel Snap's Second Anniversary Brings Doctor Doom 2099: Top Deck Strategies

Marvel Snap continues its second-year run with exciting new card variations, and this time, the formidable Doctor Doom gets a 2099 makeover. This guide explores optimal deck strategies featuring the new Doom 2099 card.

Understanding Doctor Doom 2099's Mechanics

Doom 2099 is a 4-cost, 2-power card with a unique ability: "After each turn, add a DoomBot 2099 to a random location if you played (exactly) 1 card." DoomBot 2099 (also 4-cost, 2-power) boasts the ability: "Ongoing: Your other DoomBots and Doom have +1 Power." Crucially, this buff applies to both DoomBot 2099s and regular Doctor Doom cards.

Strategic play is key. Playing one card per turn maximizes DoomBot 2099 spawns, potentially yielding a 17-power card (or even more with early placement or Magik's game extension). However, the random placement of DoomBots presents a risk, potentially handing your opponent location control. Enchantress, recently buffed, completely negates DoomBot 2099's power boost, making it a significant counter.

Top Doctor Doom 2099 Decks (Day One)

Doom 2099's one-card-per-turn requirement makes it a strong addition to Spectrum Ongoing decks. Consider these options:

Deck 1: Budget-Friendly Spectrum Focus

  • Ant-Man
  • Goose
  • Psylocke
  • Captain America
  • Cosmo
  • Electro
  • Doom 2099
  • Wong
  • Klaw
  • Doctor Doom
  • Spectrum
  • Onslaught

This low-cost deck (only Doom 2099 is a Series 5 card) offers flexibility. Aim for early Doom 2099 placement using Psylocke or Electro. Psylocke enables a powerful Wong/Klaw/Doctor Doom combo. Electro allows you to deploy high-cost cards (Onslaught) alongside DoomBot 2099s and Spectrum for widespread power boosts. Cosmo counteracts Enchantress, protecting key cards. If early Doom 2099 placement fails, shift focus to a traditional Doctor Doom strategy.

Deck 2: Patriot-Style Strategy

  • Ant-Man
  • Zabu
  • Dazzler
  • Mister Sinister
  • Patriot
  • Brood
  • Doom 2099
  • Super Skrull
  • Iron Lad
  • Blue Marvel
  • Doctor Doom
  • Spectrum

Another affordable deck (only Doom 2099 is Series 5), this builds on the Patriot archetype. Early-game plays like Mister Sinister and Brood set the stage for Doom 2099, followed by Blue Marvel and Doctor Doom or Spectrum. Zabu discounts 4-cost cards, providing backup if Patriot deployment is delayed. Flexibility is key; strategically skipping DoomBot 2099 spawns allows for two 3-cost cards (like Patriot and discounted Iron Lad) on the final turn. However, this deck is vulnerable to Enchantress; Super Skrull helps counter other Doom 2099 decks, a likely meta staple.

Is Doom 2099 Worth the Investment?

While Daken and Miek (released alongside Doom 2099) are relatively weak, Doom 2099 himself is a valuable addition. His power and deck-building versatility make him a likely meta staple. Prioritize obtaining him using Collector's Tokens if available; he's a game-changer unless nerfed.
