A Decade of Development: From Joplin to Morrison

The road to Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been long and challenging, marked by significant delays spanning nearly a decade. Development initially began in 2015, following Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, BioWare's focus shifted to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, impacting resource allocation and ultimately halting development (under the codename "Joplin"). The project's initial design conflicted with the company's live-service strategy.

The project was revived in 2018 under the codename "Morrison," before its formal announcement as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022, and finally its current title.
