Dragon Quest 12 Information to Be Revealed 'Little by Little,' Series Creator Yuji Horii Says

Dragon Quest XII remains under development, with updates to be revealed gradually, according to series creator Yuji Horii.

During a recent livestream with his radio show group, KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku, Horii confirmed that the Square Enix development team is diligently working on Dragon Quest XII. This marks the first official update since May 2024, following the passing of key figures Akira Toriyama and Koichi Sugiyama, and the departure of lead producer Yu Miyake.

Previous restructuring at Square Enix and a lack of news had sparked fan concerns about the game's potential cancellation. However, Horii's statement allays these fears, assuring fans that development continues.

The only visual currently available for Dragon Quest XII is this logo, unveiled in 2021.

Initially announced as part of the franchise's 35th anniversary, Dragon Quest XII will be the first main series installment since 2017's Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. The recent success of Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, surpassing 2 million copies sold, further underscores Square Enix's commitment to the series.
