Conquer Zoma's Citadel in Dragon Quest 3 Remake: A Comprehensive Guide

This guide provides a complete walkthrough of Zoma's Citadel in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, the game's climactic final dungeon. It details the path to the citadel, treasure locations, boss strategies, and a complete monster list.

Reaching Zoma's Citadel

After defeating Baramos, you'll enter a perpetually dark Alefgard. To reach Zoma's Citadel, you need the Rainbow Drop, created by combining:

  • Sunstone (Tantegel Castle)
  • Staff of Rain (Shrine of the Spirit)
  • Sacred Amulet (Rubiss, after freeing her in the Tower of Rubiss – requires the Faerie Flute)

The Rainbow Drop creates the bridge to the citadel.

Zoma's Citadel Walkthrough

1F:

Navigate around the chamber to reach the throne. Activating it reveals a hidden passage. Living Statues guard the central chamber.

  • Treasure 1: Mini Medal (behind throne)
  • Treasure 2: Seed of Magic (electrified panel)

B1:

Access B1 via stairs from 1F. It contains a single chest.

  • Treasure 1: Hapless Helm

B2:

This floor features directional tiles. Practice on the Tower of Rubiss's third floor if needed. The tiles' logic is:

  • North/South: Blue half left = press left, Blue half right = press right (same for Orange and South).

  • East/West: Orange arrow points towards desired direction = press UP; away = press DOWN.

  • Treasure 1: Scourge Whip

  • Treasure 2: 4,989 Gold Coins

B3:

Follow the outer edge. A detour leads to Sky, a friendly monster. A separate chamber (accessed via B2's holes) contains another friendly monster.

  • Treasure 1 (Main): Dragon Dojo Duds
  • Treasure 2 (Main): Double-Edged Sword
  • Treasure 1 (Isolated): Bastard Sword

B4:

Navigate from the center south, up and around, then to the southeast exit. A cutscene plays upon entry.

  • Treasure 1-6: Shimmering Dress, Prayer Ring, Sage's Stone, Yggdrasil Leaf, Dieamend, Mini Medal (all in one chamber)

Defeating Zoma

Before facing Zoma, defeat:

  • King Hydra: Weak to Kazap. Aggressive tactics are effective.
  • Soul of Baramos: Weak to Zap.
  • Bones of Baramos: Weak to Zap. Hits harder than the Soul.

Zoma's fight requires strategy. Conserve MP initially. Use the Sphere of Light to remove his magic barrier, then exploit his weakness to Zap attacks. Prioritize HP and don't be overly aggressive.
