Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Returns to Esports World Cup 2025
Following the apparent success of the Esports World Cup 2024, several game publishers have announced their titles' return for the 2025 competition. Garena's Free Fire was an early confirmation, and now Moonton's Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has also been confirmed.
The 2024 Esports World Cup showcased two MLBB events: the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) and the MLBB Women's Invitational. These events attracted teams from around the globe to Riyadh. Selangor Red Giants emerged victorious in the MSC, while Smart Omega Empress defeated Team Vitality (who held a remarkable 25-game win streak since 2021) to claim the Women's Invitational title.
A Strong Showing, But Is It Enough?
Most games featured in the 2024 Esports World Cup appear set to return in 2025. However, a notable observation is the lack of truly major championship events included. The inclusion of MLBB's mid-season cup, for instance, might suggest to some that the Esports World Cup is viewed more as a supplementary event than the main stage. This is a double-edged sword: it avoids overshadowing existing leagues but could also be perceived as a secondary tournament.
Regardless, fans of these games will undoubtedly welcome their return to this prestigious competition.
