Final Fantasy XIV Mobile brings the beloved MMORPG to the palm of your hand

by Scarlett Jan 27,2025

Final Fantasy XIV is officially heading to mobile devices, bringing years of content to players' fingertips. Developed by Tencent's Lightspeed Studios in collaboration with Square Enix, this mobile version will allow you to explore the world of Eorzea on the go.

The announcement ends months of speculation and confirms the mobile adaptation of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). Tencent's Lightspeed Studios, working closely with Square Enix, will be responsible for the development.

Final Fantasy XIV's journey has been remarkable. Its initial 2012 release was met with harsh criticism, prompting a complete overhaul with the "A Realm Reborn" update. This relaunch revitalized the game, transforming it into a flagship title for Square Enix.

The mobile version promises a substantial amount of content at launch. Players can expect access to nine different jobs, utilizing the Armoury system for seamless switching. Popular minigames like Triple Triad will also be included.

This mobile release marks a significant milestone, given the game's tumultuous history and subsequent success. The partnership with Tencent signifies a strong collaboration between the two companies.

While the initial mobile content might be limited, the plan likely involves a phased rollout of expansions and updates over time. This approach avoids the challenge of immediately incorporating the vast amount of content accumulated over the years.
