Gotham Knights: A Potential Nintendo Switch 2 Title?

Recent speculation suggests that Gotham Knights could be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2. This intriguing possibility stems from a game developer's resume, as highlighted by YouTuber Doctre81 on January 5, 2025.

Gotham Knights Might be One of Nintendo Switch 2’s Third-Party Titles

The resume, belonging to a developer with a history at QLOC (2018-2023), lists several notable titles including Mortal Kombat 11 and Tales of Vesperia. Crucially, it also includes Gotham Knights, specifying development for two unreleased platforms.

While one platform could potentially be the original Nintendo Switch (given a previous ESRB rating, since removed), the performance challenges on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S might hinder a port. The listing of a second unreleased platform strongly hints at the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

It's important to note that this remains unconfirmed by Warner Bros. Games or Nintendo. However, with the Nintendo Switch 2 being the only significant unreleased console currently anticipated, the possibility warrants consideration.

Previous Switch Port Attempts and ESRB Rating

Gotham Knights Might be One of Nintendo Switch 2’s Third-Party Titles

Initially released in October 2022 for PS5, Windows, and Xbox Series X, Gotham Knights received an ESRB rating for the original Nintendo Switch, fueling speculation of a release. This rating, however, has since been removed from the ESRB website. The absence of a Switch release at that time, coupled with the recent YouTube report and the past ESRB rating, suggests a possible Switch 2 launch.

Nintendo Switch 2: Backwards Compatibility and Official Announcements

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa announced on May 7, 2024, via Twitter, that further details regarding the Switch's successor would be revealed "within this fiscal year," ending in March 2025. A subsequent tweet confirmed backward compatibility with original Switch software and Nintendo Switch Online. The use of physical cartridges remains unconfirmed.
