On the occasion of the release of the "Nyras Prologue" demo for the Gothic 1 Remake, THQ Nordic and Alkimia Interactive have unveiled an exciting trailer. Unlike the original Gothic, where players embodied the Nameless Hero, the remake introduces us to Nyras, a prisoner striving to survive in the game's unforgiving world. Despite this change in character, the core objective remains the same: survival against all odds.
The Gothic Remake demo was launched during the Steam Next Fest event, quickly setting a new record for concurrent players among all entries in the series. The image below from steamdb.info showcases the impressive player turnout:

The demo highlights the revamped graphics, animations, and a combat system powered by Unreal Engine 5. While the prologue offers a taste of what's to come, it can't fully capture the extensive freedom of action and deep RPG mechanics that players will explore in the full version of the game.
The Gothic Remake is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC platforms including Steam and GOG. An official release date has yet to be announced, keeping fans eagerly awaiting further updates.
