Warner Bros. Discovery has officially announced its intention to create a sequel to the critically acclaimed Hogwarts Legacy, which has sold over 24 million copies since its release. During the Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels confirmed that a sequel is a top priority for the company, as reported by Variety.
Wiedenfels stated, "A successor to Hogwarts Legacy is undoubtedly one of our highest priorities in the coming years. We anticipate significant growth from our games business, and this sequel will be a key contributor."
Earlier this year, David Haddad of Warner Bros. Games highlighted the game's exceptional replayability as a major factor in its success. In an interview with Variety, Haddad noted the game's high replay value, stating, "Many players have returned to the game multiple times." He emphasized that the game's success wasn't solely driven by sales figures, but also by its ability to bring the Harry Potter world to life in a fresh and engaging way for gamers. Haddad believes this resonated deeply with fans, propelling Hogwarts Legacy to become the best-selling game of 2023, a feat typically achieved by sequels from established franchises.
