Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, the composers behind the soundtrack for Naughty Dog's upcoming title Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, have added another accolade to their impressive list of achievements: a Golden Globe Award. The duo won Best Original Score for their work on Luca Guadagnino's film Challengers.
The recent Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet trailer showcased a preview of their composition, alongside licensed music featured in the game. Reznor and Ross are renowned for their extensive collaboration, spanning decades and encompassing Nine Inch Nails, as well as critically acclaimed film scores for directors such as David Fincher and Pete Docter. Their previous awards include an Academy Award for Best Original Score (for The Social Network and Soul), multiple Grammys, an Emmy, and a BAFTA. Reznor also has experience composing for video games, having created the soundtrack for 1996's Quake and the main title track for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
Accepting the Golden Globe from presenters Elton John and Brandi Carlile, Ross described the Challengers score as "never...a safe choice, but it always felt like the right one." The contemporary, club-influenced electronic score perfectly complements the film's edgy athleticism and sensuality. Given their current creative peak, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet's soundtrack is poised to be a standout.
Golden Globe Win Fuels Anticipation for Intergalactic
While the creators of Nine Inch Nails' intense industrial rock might seem an unexpected choice for game and film soundtracks, Reznor and Ross have consistently demonstrated remarkable versatility. Their work ranges from the haunting soundscapes of The Social Network to the ethereal beauty of Soul, and now, the enigmatic atmosphere promised for Naughty Dog's space exploration title. With online hints suggesting a horror element to Intergalactic, their selection as composers seems particularly fitting.
The Golden Globe win further elevates the anticipation surrounding Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, a potentially significant departure for Naughty Dog. Given their impeccable track record, fans can confidently expect a captivating and memorable score, regardless of the game's final form.
