While many fans believed Patch 7 would be the last major update for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios has exciting news: another substantial update is slated for release in 2025. This update promises to enhance the gaming experience with features like crossplay support and a photo mode, and it will introduce 12 new subclasses, each with unique mechanics to enrich gameplay.
Here's a closer look at four of the eagerly anticipated subclasses:
Oath of the Crown Paladin
The Oath of the Crown Paladin stands as a beacon of justice and order, prioritizing the welfare of society above all else. This subclass is equipped with the Divine Devotion ability, which not only absorbs incoming damage to protect allies but also restores their health, making it an invaluable asset on the battlefield.
Arcane Archer
Combining martial skill with arcane magic, the Arcane Archer brings a new dimension to ranged combat. Their enchanted arrows can inflict effects such as blinding, weakening, or even temporarily banishing enemies to the Feywild. Moreover, if an arrow misses its mark, the Arcane Archer can redirect its flight path to hit another foe, ensuring no shot goes to waste.
Drunken Master Monk
The Drunken Master Monk turns alcohol into a strategic advantage in combat. Their signature move intoxicates opponents, leaving them disoriented and vulnerable while simultaneously enhancing the monk's own combat abilities. The technique known as Instant Sobriety can be used on an intoxicated target to deal devastating physical and mental damage.
Swarmkeeper Ranger
Harnessing the power of nature, the Swarmkeeper Ranger forms alliances with swarms of creatures that not only shield them from harm but also aid in teleportation. In combat, they can deploy three distinct types of swarms: electric jellyfish clusters that deliver shocks, blinding moth clouds that obscure vision, and stinging bee legions capable of knocking back enemies failing a strength check by 4.5 meters.
With these new subclasses, Baldur's Gate 3's 2025 update is set to offer players even more ways to customize their characters and strategies, promising an even deeper and more engaging gameplay experience.
