by Lucas Oct 19,2025

Nintendo unveiled a Mario Kart World Direct presentation, sharing extensive details about this flagship Nintendo Switch launch title. The showcase introduced fresh insights on character rosters, race circuits, hidden features, and beyond.

Courses

The interconnected world of Mario Kart World blends nostalgic tracks with innovative new circuits. Revealed courses include Mario Bros. Circuit, Crown City, Salty Salty Speedway, Starview Peak, Boo Cinema, Toad's Factory, Peach Beach, and Wario Shipyard. Classic courses have been thoughtfully redesigned to integrate seamlessly with this expansive new environment while preserving their iconic appeal.

Characters and New Techniques

With 24-player races, the game features an expansive roster including Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, various baby characters, Bowser, Donkey Kong, and dozens more fan favorites. New racing mechanics like Charge Jump enable defensive maneuvers, vertical traversal, and wall-riding capabilities. The Rewind feature allows risk-free experimentation with alternate routes, though competitors continue moving during rewinds.

Races - Grand Prix and Knockout Tour

Two primary modes redefine the racing experience: The traditional Grand Prix now features seamless course transitions between iconic cups (Mushroom, Flower, etc.), while Knockout Tour introduces battle royale-style elimination racing with critical checkpoint requirements. Completing all cups may unlock a special rainbow-themed challenge course with dynamic new hazards.

Playing Mario Kart World with Friends

Multiplayer options span local single-system play (4 players), wireless LAN (8 players across 2 systems), and 24-player online races. The innovative social hub allows friends to explore together, create custom events, or collaborate in photo sessions. Enhanced communication features include live video reactions through compatible cameras.

Modes

Beyond core racing, players can challenge global time trial ghosts, customize VS Mode team competitions, or enjoy returning Battle Mode variants including Coin Runners and Balloon Battle.

Items

The arsenal includes classic power-ups like Bullet Bills alongside innovative additions: Coin Shells disrupt opponents while generating collectibles, Ice Flowers immobilize racers, and Kamek's magic transforms vehicles unpredictably.

Support Features

Accessibility options include Smart Steering, customizable camera perspectives, automatic item usage, and motion controls compatible with Joy-Con steering wheels, ensuring enjoyable gameplay for all skill levels.
