Marvel Halts Development on Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. Shows

by David Apr 12,2025

Marvel Television has reportedly hit pause on the development of three anticipated shows: *Nova*, *Strange Academy*, and *Terror, Inc.* According to sources cited by Deadline, these projects were never officially greenlit and remain in limbo, as Marvel has shifted its focus to other priorities. This strategic pivot comes amidst the excitement building around Marvel Studios' upcoming Disney+ series, *Daredevil: Born Again*.

This week, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ head of streaming and TV, announced an exciting development: the potential reunion of the street-level heroes from *Daredevil*, *Luke Cage*, *Jessica Jones*, and *Iron Fist*, collectively known as The Defenders. This move suggests a focused effort to bring back beloved characters and explore new storylines within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Marvel Studios is now adopting a strategy of developing more shows than it ultimately produces. As Winderbaum noted to Screen Rant last year, “We’re really being careful about what we choose to do next.” This cautious approach aims to ensure the quality and impact of each project within the MCU.

The halt in *Nova*'s production is particularly surprising, especially since just two months ago, Ed Bernero, former showrunner of *Criminal Minds*, was announced as the writer and showrunner for the series, with *Nova* confirmed for Disney+. *Strange Academy* was set to explore a magical school founded by the MCU's Doctor Strange, with Wong taking the helm. Details on *Terror, Inc.* remain scarce, leaving fans curious about its potential direction.

Despite these delays, fans can look forward to confirmed releases in the MCU. *Daredevil: Born Again* is slated to premiere on Disney+ on March 4, followed by *Ironheart* on June 24, and *Wonder Man* in December. On the big screen, three MCU films are scheduled for release this year following *Captain America: Brave New World*: *Thunderbolts* in May and *The Fantastic Four: First Steps*.
