NBA 2K All Star Set to Launch on Mobile Next Month

by Evelyn Mar 24,2025

The mobile gaming landscape is evolving rapidly, and the inclusion of AAA genre staples like sports simulators is becoming increasingly common. A notable development in this space is the collaboration between Tencent and the NBA to bring the NBA 2K series to mobile devices in China. Slated for release on March 25th, NBA 2K All Star marks a significant entry into the mobile market for the franchise.

It's no shock that Tencent and the NBA are joining forces, given their prominence in their respective fields. Tencent's deep roots in the gaming industry and the NBA's global appeal make this partnership a logical step. What might catch you off guard, however, is the sheer popularity of basketball in China, where the sport attracts a massive following and viewership each year.

Given this context, the arrival of NBA 2K All Star on mobile seems less surprising. The intriguing aspect, however, is the content of this mobile version, which deviates from the traditional year-based branding seen in titles like 2K24 or 2K25. Could this be a move towards a long-term live service model? We'll have to wait until the March 25th release in China to find out.

Shoot for the hoopUntil more details about NBA 2K All Star emerge, much of what we can discuss is speculative. However, this speculation sheds light on the NBA's growing presence in the mobile gaming sector. Another example of this trend is the release of Dunk City Dynasty, also developed in collaboration with the NBA. While there have been setbacks, such as the gradual decline of NBA All World following its much-anticipated launch, the overall trajectory suggests that mobile gaming is becoming a key platform for the NBA to engage with fans.
