The long-awaited details about Nintendo's next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2, have finally been revealed, and the specs are more impressive than many anticipated. The new system supports gameplay at 120fps and can achieve up to 4K resolution when docked, marking a significant leap in performance from its predecessor.
During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased numerous features of the new system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch screen compared to the original Switch, while maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm. The screen resolution has been doubled, supporting a 1080p display in handheld mode at up to 120fps. Additionally, it features an LCD screen with HDR support, which extends to 4K resolution and HDR when docked.The new Joy-Con 2 controllers are designed with magnetic connections and can be detached using a release button on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing gameplay in horizontal mode, and the analog sticks are also bigger. A notable addition is the official reveal of mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.
The handheld version of the Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and 3D audio for compatible games. It also features a more robust and adjustable stand compared to the original Switch, capable of various height settings. A top USB port allows for external camera connectivity or charging the system while in tabletop mode.
Furthermore, the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with 256GB of internal storage, offering ample space for games and apps.
