The developers behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, inspired by the well-known Dark and Darker, have officially announced the cessation of support for the game and the impending closure of its servers. Despite its promising start, Dungeonborne struggled to maintain a dedicated player base, ultimately succumbing to low player engagement and the absence of substantial updates within its short lifespan of less than a year.
While Dungeonborne's page remains available on Steam, the game has been removed from the platform's search results and can only be accessed via a direct link. Although the official reasons for the shutdown remain undisclosed, it's evident that the dwindling player numbers were a significant factor. By late 2024, the game barely managed to maintain 200 concurrent players, and in the weeks leading up to the announcement, this number plummeted to a mere 10-15 players.
The servers for Dungeonborne are scheduled to go offline permanently on May 28, signaling the end of the game's journey. Initially generating excitement among fans of the genre, Dungeonborne ultimately failed to reach its full potential and will soon be a memory of what could have been.
