Developer Pocketpair has announced an exciting new addition to their universe with Palworld! More Than Just Pals, a dating sim set within the world of their massively popular monster-catching game. This isn't an April Fools' Day prank; it's a real project that aims to bring a touch of romance into the Palworld ecosystem.
Announced on March 31, 2025, Palworld! More Than Just Pals might raise eyebrows, especially with April Fools' Day just around the corner, known for its flood of fake game announcements. However, Pocketpair is keen to assure fans that this is no joke. The concept, inspired by last year's April Fools' Day stunt, has now been turned into an actual game set to launch on PC via Steam at a yet-to-be-announced date.
In Palworld! More Than Just Pals, players step into the shoes of a transfer student at the prestigious Palagos Private Academy. Here, you'll have the chance to befriend and potentially fall in love with a variety of student Pals, including characters like the "cute" and "mysterious" Katress and the "timid" Chillet, all familiar names from the original Palworld. The game promises a unique blend of school life, friendship, and romance, with the intriguing twist that players can choose to stay friends, pursue romantic relationships, or even take more drastic actions with the Pals.
Pocketpair's official statement reads, "You, the protagonist, enroll as a transfer student in the prestigious Palagos Private Academy. You will meet unique friends (pals) and enjoy school life through friendship and romance. It's up to you whether you stay friends with the pals, develop romantic relationships with them, or even dismember and eat them."
To quell any skepticism, Bucky from the Palworld team tweeted, "This doesn't concern April Fools :)", affirming the legitimacy of the project.
As Palworld itself continues to evolve, celebrating its one-year anniversary in January and rolling out updates like crossplay support, Blueprint upgrades, and a photo mode, fans have plenty to look forward to while awaiting Palworld! More Than Just Pals. There's also a glimmer of hope for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Palworld, though nothing is confirmed yet. Regardless, the dating sim's potential arrival on the console adds another layer of anticipation for fans of the franchise.
