The Realmgate is a crucial endgame feature in Path of Exile 2. Unlike standard map nodes accessed via Waystones, the Realmgate offers a unique path to challenging pinnacle boss encounters. This guide details its location, usage, and what awaits beyond its portal. Proper preparation is key to maximizing your chances of success.

How to Find the Realmgate in PoE 2

The Realmgate is conveniently located near your mapping phase starting point. The fastest way to return is by clicking the floating home icon on the mapping screen (image above). This centers the screen on your starting location, and the Realmgate will be adjacent to the stone Ziggurat.

Note that the home icon might sometimes overlap with the red skull icon marking the Burning Monolith. These locations are usually close together; clicking one will reveal the other.

How to Use the Realmgate in PoE 2

Unlike regular map nodes, Waystones are ineffective with the Realmgate. Its purpose is to transport players to challenging pinnacle boss fights. Currently, four pinnacle bosses are accessible via the Realmgate:

  • Xesht, We That Are One (Breach Pinnacle Boss): Combine 300 Breach Splinters to create a Breachstone. Use this Breachstone at the Realmgate to initiate the Xesht encounter.
  • Olroth, Origin of the Fall (Expeditions Pinnacle Boss): Use a Level 79 or higher Logbook (obtained from Expeditions). Speak to Dannig in your Hideout. Dannig appears randomly during Expedition maps, alongside Rog, Gwennen, and Tujen. After his first appearance, he'll permanently reside in your Hideout.
  • The Simulacrum (Delirium Pinnacle Event): Combine 300 Simulacrum Splinters to create The Simulacrum. Use it at the Realmgate. This doesn't lead to a single boss fight but a 15-wave Delirium map—ideal for optimized mapping builds.
  • King in the Mists (Ritual Pinnacle Boss): Obtain "An Audience With the King" item from the Ritual Favour system using Tribute. Use this item at the Realmgate to access this boss.

It's important to note that the Trialmaster and Zarokh, the Temporal (found in the Trial of Chaos and Trial of Sekhemas respectively, in the 4th Ascendancy version) are not accessed via the Realmgate.

Similarly, the Arbiter of Ash, the ultimate pinnacle boss, resides within the Burning Monolith, not the Realmgate. Access requires three Citadel keys, obtained through a quest triggered upon your first Burning Monolith encounter.
