Pokémon Champions, Game Freak's Leaked Multiplayer Game, Officially Revealed

by Simon Mar 19,2025

After months of speculation and leaks, Pokémon Champions has finally been unveiled. This new multiplayer battle-focused Pokémon game is a collaborative effort between Game Freak and The Pokémon Works, a recent joint venture between The Pokémon Company and ILCA (developers of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl).

Pokémon Champions centers around Pokémon battles, utilizing the series' core battle system. Players will engage in online battles against each other. The trailer showcased both Mega Evolution and Terastallization, hinting at a wide array of Pokémon and battle styles across various generations.

PlayA key feature is its integration with Pokémon Home, enabling players to transfer Pokémon from other games into *Pokémon Champions*, finally providing a purpose for those hundreds of Pokémon gathering digital dust in players' boxes.

Currently in development for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, Pokémon Champions lacks a confirmed release date. However, it will support Latin American Spanish at launch, in addition to other languages commonly featured in Pokémon games.

Interestingly, Pokémon Champions appears to be the same game that leaked last year as "Pokémon Synapse," part of the extensive "Freak Leak." While initial details were scarce, suggesting a multiplayer game possibly similar to Splatoon, the official reveal clarifies its focus on competitive Pokémon battles.
