Pokemon GO Fans Think Two Powerful Steel-type Mega Debuts Are Coming Soon

Pokemon GO players anticipate the arrival of Mega Metagross or Mega Lucario in July's Ultra Unlock Part 2: Strength of Steel event, a long-awaited addition. Niantic's recently revealed July schedule is packed with exciting content for Pokemon GO enthusiasts.

July promises a busy month for Pokemon GO, culminating in the final stages of GO Fest 2024 and a Community Day featuring Tynamo. However, the most anticipated addition might be one of the most requested Mega evolutions.

A Silph Road subreddit post highlights July's events, emphasizing the Ultra Unlock event (Strength of Steel, July 25th-30th). Many believe this event will finally introduce Mega Lucario or Mega Metagross, fulfilling a community desire.

Mega Metagross or Lucario? The Community Speculates

The timing is opportune for Niantic to introduce these Mega evolutions. Speculation points to Mega Metagross due to its resemblance to a fusion of Metagross and Metang, potentially linked to the previous "Better Together" Ultra Unlock event. Alternatively, Lucario's evolution requirement of high friendship in other Pokemon games (like Scarlet and Violet) might be alluded to in the event's title.

However, some believe Mega Lucario is more likely, given its Fighting/Steel typing aligning with the "Strength of Steel" theme. The "strength" could refer to Lucario's Steel-type. A few players even hope for a double debut of both Mega evolutions. With Ultra Beasts also returning in July, Pokemon GO players are in for an exciting month.
