The Pokémon Company Addresses TCG Shortages and Scalpers Following Destined Rivals Launch in New Statement

by Lucy May 05,2025

The Pokémon Company has taken a significant step to address the frustrations fans have experienced in obtaining recent Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. In a recent statement, the company has confirmed that reprints are on the horizon, actively working to ensure that these popular products reach the hands of eager fans.

The launch of the latest Pokémon TCG set, Destined Rivals, was marred by product shortages, issues with pre-orders, and the unwelcome presence of scalpers. Other sought-after sets, such as Prismatic Evolutions and the Blooming Waters box, have also been notoriously hard to come by due to high demand.

In their official statement on the Pokémon website, The Pokémon Company acknowledged the challenges fans face in purchasing certain TCG products due to overwhelming demand. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to address this," the statement assured. Fans can expect these reprinted products to become available at participating retailers soon.

Moreover, TPC announced plans to ramp up production for upcoming TCG expansions to ensure better availability from the start. They also committed to ongoing reprints of affected products, including those available at the Pokémon Center.

In response to the scalping issue, The Pokémon Company indirectly addressed their approach. For Pokémon Center releases, they are "committed to providing a smooth purchasing experience and employ technology that helps get products into the hands of fans first and foremost." This includes the use of a virtual queue system during high-traffic periods on the Pokémon Center website.

"We will continue to explore measures that help create the best possible experience for Pokémon Center customers," the company stated, extending gratitude to the community for their patience and support as they strive to deliver more Pokémon TCG products to fans.

With these reassurances from The Pokémon Company, fans can hope for a smoother and less stressful experience in collecting and playing the Pokémon TCG when new sets are released.
