"New Predator Unveiled in 'Badlands' Trailer: Unlike Any Before"

by Ethan May 07,2025

The highly anticipated sequel, Predator: Badlands, is back in the spotlight with its teaser trailer now making waves across the internet. In this gripping sneak peek, we're introduced to Elle Fanning's character, who seems to be navigating the perils of a remote planet in the future. What sets this film apart is the unique twist on the classic Predator narrative: the teaser hints that the Predator might not be the antagonist this time but could be the protagonist.

The trailer boldly states, "The director of Prey welcomes you to a world of pain," setting the stage for an intense cinematic experience. Alongside the new portrayal of the Predator, there are intriguing nods to the Alien universe, sparking speculation about potential connections to an Aliens vs Predator film. Fans have noticed Elle Fanning's eyes mimicking the Weyland Yutani reboot effect seen in Alien: Romulus, suggesting her character might be a synthetic. Additionally, the Weyland Yutani logo appears on a damaged vehicle, further cementing the link to the Alien franchise.

Predator: Badlands was first announced in February 2024, with its release date confirmed in October of the same year. The trailer was initially showcased at CinemaCon earlier this month, but this marks its first public release, giving fans a tantalizing glimpse of what to expect.

20th Century Studios provided an official synopsis at CinemaCon: "In the future on a remote planet, a young Predator, outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary."

Elle Fanning herself shared some exciting details at CinemaCon, saying, "Something unprecedented happens in this movie. My character is not the one being chased. My character actually teams up with the Predator. And you get to see him in a completely new light. And... I'll stop there!"

Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, known for 10 Cloverfield Lane and the Predator prequel Prey, and co-written with Patrick Aison, Predator: Badlands is set to hit theaters on November 7, 2025. This film promises to redefine the Predator series with its fresh perspective and thrilling narrative.
