ReFantazio: A Series With Game-Changing Potential

Hashino, when discussing the studio's future, expressed interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game, potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.

Regarding the possibility of Metaphor: ReFantazio becoming a franchise, Hashino confirmed there are no concrete plans for a sequel at this time. His focus remains on completing the current project, a game initially conceived as the third major JRPG series following Persona and Shin Megami Tensei. His ambition is for it to become a flagship title for the company.

While a Metaphor: ReFantazio sequel is unlikely to be the studio's next project, an anime adaptation is under discussion. Metaphor: ReFantazio has already achieved remarkable success, boasting the highest concurrent player count for an Atlus game launch to date.

The game's peak concurrent player count reached 85,961, surpassing Persona 5 Royal (35,474 players) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002 players). Metaphor: ReFantazio is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
