Resident Evil's Mikami and Killer7's Suda51 Hint at Sequel and Remaster
During a recent Grasshopper Direct presentation focusing on the upcoming Shadows of the Damned remaster, Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil creator) and Goichi "Suda51" Suda (Killer7 creator) fueled speculation about the future of the cult classic Killer7.
The discussion, captured in a video https://www.youtube.com/embed/aAQE3GIjdu4, sparked excitement among fans. Mikami openly expressed his desire for a Killer7 sequel, calling the original one of his personal favorites. Suda51, mirroring this enthusiasm, hinted at the possibility, playfully suggesting titles like Killer11 or Killer7: Beyond.
Killer7, a 2005 action-adventure game blending horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature over-the-top style, follows Harman Smith and his seven distinct personalities. Despite its dedicated fanbase, it's never received a sequel. Even after a 2018 PC remaster, Suda51 voiced interest in a "Complete Edition," an idea Mikami jokingly dismissed as "lame." However, the discussion revealed the original vision included significantly more dialogue for the character Coyote, a potential addition to a Complete Edition.
The prospect of either a sequel or a complete edition has ignited considerable fan excitement. While no firm commitments were made, the developers' enthusiasm alone suggests a future for Killer7 remains a possibility. The final exchange between Mikami and Suda51 left the decision of whether a Killer7: Beyond sequel or a Complete Edition would come first, up in the air.
